New director appointed at the Leadership Centre for Local Government

June 19, 2005

Tom Irvine, 48, was today appointed to the newly created role of Director for Leadership at the Leadership Centre for Local Government.

Tom joins the centre from Praxis Development Consultants where, for the last ten years as managing director, he advised the public and private sector on leadership capacity building.

He began his career as a maths teacher in Glasgow, progressing to Suffolk County Council where he was responsible for managing the in-service teacher training scheme to more than 6,000 staff.

Commenting on his appointment, Tom said: "I am delighted to have been appointed to work for an organisation at the heart of public sector leadership debate. It is a tremendously exciting role that will focus on delivering integrated senior team development programmes, building leadership skills for both political and executive personnel."

Tom will report to Chief Executive of the Leadership Centre, Wendy Thomson.
